After purchasing the 3rd Shark steam iron, and having the SAME problem occur, we called technical support and found no resolution to the problems other than to mail (at our expense) the iron to their Spruce Pine facility, and sometime in the next 6 to 8 weeks, we would receive a repaired iron.

This iron obviously has a manufacturing defect that allows the heating medium (presumably a type of mineral oil) to leak when the iron heats up sufficiently, thus staining the clothes being ironed.
The company does not seem concerned that we have garments that were damaged, or that we have to foot the bill for the postage, be without an iron for a couple months and will likely receive a replacement iron that will have the same defect since the company does not want to acknowledge the design flaw.
We have since replaced the Shark with a Rowanta and are pleased with the new iron.
Shame on this company for selling a defective product and make the consumer pay the price!!
Oh, BTW, the company is using an off-shore technical support facility that employs people that have trouble with spoken and written English. How about employing AMERICANS for your tech support?
