I can't open some videos on my MacBook

I won't have the internet at home for about a week, so I went to a friend's house and downloaded various videos and movies to my MacBook to watch and pass the time. But unfortunately, I can't open the MKV videos, I tried to solve this problem but couldn't, I'm afraid my MacBook is broken. Has anyone encountered this problem?

If you don't want to install additional codecs or plugins, you can choose a media player that is compatible with MKV. Well, I think you should go back to your friend and download a video player that can play these video formats. And it's not your MacBook that's broken, it's a problem many MacBook users have, so don't worry about it.
